My expectation is that this will become a major games platform. I hope you enjoyed the 5 Days of "Making Money by Programming" blog entries last week. It's something a little different and I'll probably meld them into an article shortly. Have a great week! | | Making Money Programming - 5 days of Blog Entries | If You've Got the Time To Code You can now get a $50 Sports Watch; the EZ430-Chronos which comes with a wearable wireless development system. It's programmed in C and there are plenty of example programs available. You can also program the 96 segment display, take heart rate measurements wirelessly via special sensors which are bought separately, or take temperature and pressure measurement and detect acceleration in 3 axes with the inbuilt sensors. What's interesting is the code supplied for the firmware which comes with source code so you can add your own functionality. 8Kb of flash memory is available for logging data. There's also an emulator for testing your software. | iPad SDK 3.2 Released Over the last few weeks Apple has released a number of betas of their SDK 3.2 which is for the iPad. They are now accepting iPad apps into the App Store but they must be built using this version. There are a number of features in the SDK which aren't in the iPhone. Unfortunately Apple's legalese prevent registered developers talking about them until Apple allows them. However Apple has just released a bunch of new iPad videos so you can probably figure out one or two of the new features. The most obvious difference is the increased screen size (1024 x 768) which is more than twice the iPhone's 480 x 320, in fact about 5 x the number of pixels and that allows significantly more powerful Apps. The SDK includes a simulator so you can develop and test your app prior to actually getting an iPad. All the iPhone/Objective-C tutorials I write will apply to the iPad as well and there will be some on the iPad features. One thing's for sure I bet all the iPhone developer books are having new chapters and they will be writing new Programming the iPad books! | Never Programmed Before?
